Imirt: The Irish Game Makers Association is pleased to announce its first invited Imirt Inspire speaker, Brian Upton of Game on the Rails. Upton, an award-winning freelance game designer based in Los Angeles, advises clients worldwide on pitching, prototyping, design, narrative, and production and has worked on such titles as Ghost Recon, Everybody Has Gone to the Rapture, Bound and Here They Lie.
The talk will be held at the School of Media, DIT Aungier St on January 27th, 2017 at 6pm. Tickets are free but there is limited space. Please only reserve a ticket if you are going to attend.
Imirt Inspire is designed to facilitate sharing of information between game developers nationally and internationally. Upton is the organization’s first in-person talk. “We are excited to bring Brian to Ireland and are certain his experience will benefit game developers of all experience levels,” said Jen Carey, board member of Imirt.
Upton’s talk will touch on critical concepts of game pitches and will draw upon his 14 years of experience at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio where he collaborated with many external teams. Prior to joining Sony, he was the creative director at Red Storm Entertainment where he pioneered the tactical shooter genre as the lead designer of Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon.
“In particular, we are grateful to our members for their continued support of Imirt and Imirt Inspire, to Enterprise Ireland for their financial assistance and to DIT for providing a venue free of charge,” said Brenda Romero, chairperson of Imirt.
